Choosing a mounting location
Where you put the gateway decides how far your sensors can reach it. A few minutes spent choosing the spot saves a lot of troubleshooting later.

Radio signals travel best in a straight line. Mount the gateway as high as you practically and safely can, so that fewer things stand between it and your sensors.
- Metal walls, roofs and machinery block and reflect radio signals.
- Thick concrete walls weaken the signal.
- Keep the antenna upright, with open space around it.
Place the gateway near the middle of the area your sensors cover, within reach of a power outlet and your network.
